Ad-Choice Project
I chose to interview my 65 year old dad. I asked him some questions but ads and his opinions on them. 50 years ago advertising worked a lot differently. 50 years ago ads were very different. Low quality black and white ads depicting the “modern family” consisting of a working dad, a stay at home mom, a son and a daughter and sometimes a dog. Now ads can be almost anything they want. Advertising birth control or condoms wasn't even heard of back then but now you see them on a regular basis. Back then you could advertise cigarette, this made the marlboro man a celebrity but now that ads have changed he was forgotten. With the changing of social values came the changing of ads. You can now advertise a guy in a speedo or a girl in a thong but back then that was absurd. Back in the day if you were to show a person of color or a gay couple that was considered out of the ordinary but now you see that quite often. My dad said “he get tired of all the ads he sees everywhere he goes’ But on the bright side the ads he sees are a much higher quality than when he was younger. He talked about the ads being “Much more effective at targeting audiences” and I would have to agree with him. Ads seem to pop up when you were just thinking of that product. Overall I think I chose the right person to interview and I agree with what he had to say

Almost everywhere you go you will probably see a Nike swoosh or a Adidas pair of shoes. Most of these brands are very noticeable. But can you pass our not so easy local brand test.
